Who we are

No cookies, no third-party tracking

This website does not place cookies and does not store anything on your device. It does not use advertising networks, social media plug-ins or tracking tools of other parties. For that reason there is no cookie banner. What we do measure, on our own servers, is described below.

Server logs

When you visit the website, the web server processes technical data that every browser sends: IP address, date and time, requested page, referring page and browser type. We use this data only to deliver the website, keep it secure and resolve errors. Log files are kept only for as long as needed for these purposes and are then deleted.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Visitor statistics

To see how this website is used, we keep visitor statistics with Umami, an open-source statistics tool that we run ourselves on our own servers in the Netherlands (pulse.luminousinvestments.nl). No other party receives these data. No cookies are used and nothing is stored on your device.

For each page you view, your browser sends:

• the address of the page, without query parameters or the part after #, and the page title;
• the website you came from, without query parameters, if your browser shares it;
• your screen size and browser language;
• for a few actions, what you did: following a link to one of our ventures or investments, using the e-mail address or LinkedIn link, or switching language.

From your IP address and browser information, our server derives your country, region and city, your browser, operating system and type of device, and a visitor code that is calculated from these and changes every month. Your IP address itself is not stored. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, no statistics are collected. We keep the statistics for no longer than 13 months.

Error reports

If a technical error occurs in the website's scripts in your browser, your browser sends an error report to GlitchTip, an error-tracking tool that we also run ourselves on our own servers in the Netherlands (errors.luminousinvestments.nl). A report contains the error message, where in our code it occurred, the address of the page without query parameters, the version of the website, and your browser and operating system. Your IP address is not passed on to GlitchTip. E-mail addresses, bank account numbers and other long numbers are removed from a report before your browser sends it, and e-mail addresses once more when it arrives. We use these reports only to find and fix errors and keep them for no longer than 90 days.

Legal basis for statistics and error reports

We process visitor statistics and error reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in a website that works well and is improved based on how it is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to this at any time; a Do Not Track setting in your browser switches off the statistics.

Email

If you contact us by email, we use your name, email address and message only to answer you. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle your question and any follow-up, unless a longer period is required by law.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your question, or taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

External websites

This website links to other websites, such as those of our ventures and LinkedIn. Those websites have their own privacy policies; we are not responsible for how they handle personal data.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Send your request to the email address above. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

We update this statement when the website changes. The date at the top shows the most recent version.
